Our Mission Statement
The Ellie Burns Foundation serves to honor Ellie’s love for nature, her passion for helping others, her strong sense of self and her fearlessness of trying new things. Ellie Burns’ life was tragically cut short in a camping accident when a tree fell and hit her during a “bear hang” of their food while on an wilderness trip in the Grand Tetons. We are devoted to preserving Ellie’s legacy by providing deserving individuals with the opportunity to participate in an experience or program that allows them to cultivate their character and discover their unlimited potential by achieving personal goals, such as developing a sense of independence in nature through outdoor education or demonstrating a commitment to service through caring for others in the world around them, both of which Ellie respected and exemplified.
Your gift in Ellie’s memory will be used to fund scholarships that will benefit high school students to further their love for the outdoors through outdoor education.
